$655,000 awarded to advance the field of women’s cancers 

The Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) awarded 18 research grants, research prizes and career development awards for a total of $655,000 during the Society of Gynecologic Oncology’s 2017 Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer March 12-15, held in in National Harbor, MD.

The FWC research grants and awards program strives to mentor and accelerate the success of young investigators in the field of women’s cancers.

Those selected to receive these grants choose careers as physician scientists, publish research results in peer-reviewed publications, and are able to leverage the initial FWC grant support to attract other funding, including National Institutes of Health RO1 grants.

Spotlight

Elizabeth Young isn’t afraid to jump for a cause no matter how high. As a survivor of cervical cancer, Young empowers women through skydiving, running marathons and giving back to the cause. This year is no different with her second skydiving event Mother’s Day Weekend.

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.  After creating the month in 1999, the Foundation strives to bring attention about these cancers through public awareness campaigns.
