David Cohn, MD

Ohio State University

CohnDr. Cohn is Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ohio State University. He is the Director of gynecologic cancer research, and the Gertrude Parker Heer Chair in Cancer Research at Ohio State.

He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington in Seattle, and his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Cohn has been funded for his research in gynecologic cancers by the National Cancer Institute, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (previously the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation) and other charitable groups. He has been awarded for his research contributions by the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Gynecologic and Obstetrical Society (with the AGOS Charles A. Hunter, Jr. Prize Thesis Award). He is a full member of several organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research.

Awareness

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.
