Ernest Lengyel, MD, PhD

LengyelDr. Lengyel is Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Section of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Chicago. He completed his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at UCSF/Stanford and has a clinical practice focused on the surgical treatment of ovarian cancer and a translational research laboratory studying ovarian cancer metastasis.

Dr. Lengyel received the GCF/Margaret Greenfield/Carmel Cohen, MD “Excellence in Ovarian Cancer Research Award” and is a full member of several organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the American Association for Cancer Research.


After surviving cancer, women look for a community of support and guidance. In a video produced by the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, survivors share how they live and thrive after endometrial cancer. As described by one survivor, “You can get better.”
