Ilana Cass, MD

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

Dr. Ilana Cass is Professor and Vice Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.  She also serves as an Institutional Review Board Chair for clinical research.  She completed her Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  Dr. Cass has received grant funding from the American Cancer Society – California Division, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Career Development Award from the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, the Ovarian Cancer Coalition of California and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.  Dr Cass completed her fellowship in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program for women in 2013.

Dr. Cass is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Western Association of Gynecologic Oncology and she serves on the Genetics Editorial Board, Breast and Ovarian cancer working group for the NCI Physician Data Query comprehensive cancer database and she also serves on the Gynecologic Oncology Group Cancer Prevention and Control subcommittee.

Awareness

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.
