ZighelboimDr. Zighelboim is a gynecologic oncologist at St. Luke’s Cancer Care Associates in Bethlehem, PA. He received his medical degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1999. Dr. Zighelboim continued his training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, completing his four-year residency training in 2005. He obtained his fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine /Barnes Jewish Hospital from 2005 to 2008.

Dr. Zighelboim is a reviewer for the journals Gynecologic Oncology, Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research and Annals of Surgical Oncology. He has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and has presented his research at national and international scientific conferences. His research focuses on development and validation of molecular and novel biomarkers to improve gynecologic cancer care and outcomes.

Awareness

A new SGO Clinical Practice Statement states women diagnosed with epithelial ovarian, tubal, and peritoneal cancers should be considered for genetic counseling and testing, even in the absence of a family history.
