Jeffrey M. Fowler, MD

FowlerDr. Fowler is a Professor and Vice Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the John G. Boutselis Chair in Gyn Oncology at The Ohio State University. He serves as co-director of the Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery at OSU. Nationally, he is chair of the Data Monitoring Committee in the Gynecologic Oncology Group. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Women’s Cancer. He is in his second term as a member of the Board of Governors for the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the Advisory Board to the American College of Surgeons for The American College of Obstetricians/Gynecologists. In 2009 he was elected as a member to the subspecialty Division of Gynecologic Oncology for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (one of 6 members across the country). Dr. Fowler is on the editorial board for Gynecologic Oncology and The Journal of Robotic Surgery.

Dr. Fowler’s clinical research interests include gynecologic oncology, radical pelvic surgery, minimally-invasive surgery, pelvic reconstruction, robotic surgery and clinical trials in gynecologic oncology.

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.
