PodratzDr. Podratz is the Joseph I. and Barbara Ashkins Professor of Surgery Emeritus, matriculated the gynecologic fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN where he combined a high volume gynecologic surgery/oncology practice with complementary clinical and translational investigations and served as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for 14 years. His chief research interest has been endometrial cancer focusing on the pathogenesis and treatment-related outcomes.

He has had the honor of serving as Chair of the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, member of Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons, and president of several specialty organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists.

Spotlight

After surviving cancer, women look for a community of support and guidance. In a video produced by the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, survivors share how they live and thrive after endometrial cancer. As described by one survivor, “You can get better.”  

Awareness

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.  After creating the month in 1999, the Foundation strives to bring attention about these cancers through public awareness campaigns.
