Dr Gemignani

Gemignani, MD, MPH, is an Associate Attending Surgeon and an Associate Member of the Breast Surgical Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York. Dr. Gemignani is dual trained as a breast surgeon and as a gynecologic oncologist, having completed fellowships in both disciplines. Dr. Gemignani specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer. Her continuing research focus is on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, including breast cancers caused by mutations in the BRCA genes.

Dr. Gemignani has also been involved in MSKCC’s Special Surveillance Breast Program, a comprehensive screening and prevention program for women who have an increased risk of developing breast cancer. Dr. Gemignani is currently the Director of the Breast Fellowship program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and responsible for the educational training program for a highly selected group of surgeons choosing to specialize in breast surgery.

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.
