morrisMitchell Morris is a Principal in Deloitte Consulting’s Life Sciences and Health Care practice where he is the national leader of Health IT. Dr. Morris has more than 30 years of experience in consulting, health care administration, research, technology, education, and clinical care. He was previously a leader in academic medicine and was Professor of Gynecologic Oncology and of Health Services Research at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Professor (adjunct) of Health Informatics at UT Houston. He has been a leader in the field of outcomes and disease management and also served as Senior VP of Healthcare Systems and as CIO at MD Anderson.

Dr. Morris’s focus in consulting has been on health systems, academic organizations, and government agencies, assisting them with the development and implementation of strategies around operations, clinical programs and quality, IT, finance, research, and overall performance improvement. Dr. Morris is a pioneer in the implementation of electronic health records, web-based clinical systems and health information exchange technologies.

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.
