Press Release: GCF Race for Gynecologic Cancer Awareness During The Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Movement Weekend

GCF Half Marathon and 5K

Mark your calendars for the weekend of November 6-8, 2009—the inaugural Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Movement Weekend and GCF’s half marathon/5K/1 mile walk. Join gynecologic cancer doctors; survivors and their families and friends; members of the advocacy community; and over 3,000 runners and walkers in Washington, DC for this exciting awareness-raising weekend. There will be a CME course for physicians, and free concurrent cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer courses for survivors. Sunday is race day!

So put on your running shoes and be part of this powerful movement to raise awareness about gynecologic cancers. Join gynecologic cancer doctors, members of the advocacy community, survivors and serious runners for the half marathon, 5K, or 1 mile walk.

Awareness

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.

Education
