Sara Goldberger, LCSW-R

Cancer Support Community

GoldbergerMs. Goldberger is the Senior Director of Programs at the Cancer Support Community.  She is responsible for the development of new programs and special projects, and ensuring quality standards of CSC’s program delivery across the fifty plus local sites, online and telephonically. 

She has worked in the field of psychosocial oncology for the past 20 years, most recently the Director of Program Support at Gilda’s Club Worldwide. Previously, she served as the Program Director of Gilda’s Club Westchester for 6 years.  Sara began her social work career at Calvary Hospital, Bronx NY, an acute care hospital for terminally ill cancer patients.

She received her MSW from Columbia University in New York where she was the Dean’s Award Scholar in recognition of excellence in both academics and clinical work in the field. Sara is a member of several Advisory Boards in the oncology community and is a Board Member of the Association of Oncology Social Workers.

 

Spotlight

After surviving cancer, women look for a community of support and guidance. In a video produced by the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, survivors share how they live and thrive after endometrial cancer. As described by one survivor, “You can get better.”  

Awareness

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.  After creating the month in 1999, the Foundation strives to bring attention about these cancers through public awareness campaigns.
