Terri Horton-O’Connell

Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations

Horton-O'ConnellMs. Horton-O’Connell has served in the capacity of Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the Foundation for Women’s Cancer since June, 2011.

She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work from Aurora University.

Ms. Horton-O’Connell is a seasoned non-profit professional with over 20 years of diverse experience. Early in her career, she worked with underserved, vulnerable populations providing direct services in the form of counseling, advocacy, and case management in a variety of human service organizations. For the past eleven years, she has devoted her time to fund development work within child welfare, acute care hospitals and disease-oriented organizations located within the Chicago metropolitan area.

Awareness

The CDC recently announced that fewer than half of American children are given the HPV vaccination.

Research

As of the July 23 deadline, 55 research abstracts were submitted in hopes of receiving one of only 6 grants from the Foundation. This points to a need for more funding so that the Foundation may award grants to every deserving applicant.
