Wendell Naumann, MD

NaumannDr. Naumann is currently the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynecologic Oncology and Professor in Department of Ob/Gyn at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He did his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He currently serves on the Executive Council of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and is the Vice Chair of the Education Committee. He has an interest in endometrial cancer and co-authored the ACOG committee opinion on endometrial cancer and has served on the GOG Uterine Corpus Committee.

Current research interests include targeted therapy for ovarian and uterine cancer as well as minimally invasive surgery for pelvic masses and ovarian cancer. Dr. Naumann’s authorships include approximately 50 peer-review publications and abstracts and 17 books chapters/non-peer review articles.

Awareness

A new SGO Clinical Practice Statement states women diagnosed with epithelial ovarian, tubal, and peritoneal cancers should be considered for genetic counseling and testing, even in the absence of a family history.
