Dee Sparacio was in the audience in March 2023 when the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) announced twelve research award and grant recipients at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer.

As an SGO patient advocate member and conference participant, she watched and listened, quietly reflecting that it has been seventeen years since her diagnosis with stage three ovarian cancer.

After her diagnosis, Dee underwent surgery and chemotherapy; she also participated in a phase I clinical trial. After completing treatment for a recurrence in 2009, she was told there was no evidence of disease.

Today, Dee is a long-term ovarian cancer survivor.

“When people like me face a new diagnosis of a gynecologic cancer, learning more about research and enrolling, as able, in clinical trials offers hope,” she expresses.

FWC knows that a cancer patients’ tomorrow depends on the research innovations ignited through thoughtful cancer research investments. The Foundation is working to ensure scientists, particularly early-career scientists, receive the funding they need to continue to transform the field of gynecologic cancer treatment and care.

Join Dee in supporting the FWC with a gift, and fuel a young investigator grant in the FWC’s upcoming grant cycle.
